Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.

(This lamp is) kindled from a blessed tree, an olive neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself) though no fire touched it. Light upon light. Allah guideth unto His light whom He will. And Allah speaketh to mankind in allegories, for Allah is Knower of all things.

The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.

God is the Light of the heavens and the earth; the likeness of His Light is as a niche wherein is a lamp (the lamp in a glass, the glass as it were a glittering star) kindled from a Blessed Tree, an olive that is neither of the East nor of the West whose oil wellnigh would shine, even if no fire touched it; Light upon Light; (God guides to His Light whom He will.) (And God strikes similitudes for men, and God has knowledge of everything.)

خدا نور آسمان ها و زمین است؛ وصف نورش مانند چراغدانی است که در آن، چراغ پر فروغی است، و آن چراغ در میان قندیل بلورینی است، که آن قندیل بلورین گویی ستاره تابانی است، [و آن چراغ] از [روغن] درخت زیتونی پربرکت که نه شرقی است و نه غربی افروخته می شود، [و] روغن آن [از پاکی و صافی] نزدیک است روشنی بدهد گرچه آتشی به آن نرسیده باشد، نوری است بر فراز نوری؛ خدا هر کس را بخواهد به سوی نور خود هدایت می کند، و خدا برای مردم مثل ها می زند [تا حقایق را بفهمند] و خدا به همه چیز داناست.

خدا نور آسمانها و زمین است. مَثَل نور او چون چراغدانی است که در آن چراغی، و آن چراغ در شیشه‌ای است. آن شیشه گویی اختری درخشان است که از درخت خجسته زیتونی که نه شرقی است و نه غربی، افروخته می‌شود. نزدیک است که روغنش -هر چند بدان آتشی نرسیده باشد- روشنی بخشد. روشنیِ بر روی روشنی است. خدا هر که را بخواهد با نور خویش هدایت می‌کند، و این مَثَلها را خدا برای مردم می‌زند و خدا به هر چیزی داناست.

Allah göklerin ve yerin Nur'udur. O'nun nuru, içinde ışık bulunan bir kandil yuvasına benzer. O ışık bir cam içindedir, cam ise, sanki inci gibi parlayan bir yıldızdır; bu ne yalnız doğuda ve ne de yalnız batıda bulunan bereketli zeytin ağacından yakılır. Ateş değmese bile, nerdeyse yağın kendisi aydınlatacak! Nur üstüne nurdur. Allah dilediğini nuruna kavuşturur. Allah insanlara misaller verir. O, herşeyi bilir.

Allah (Pemberi) cahaya (kepada) langit dan bumi. Perumpamaan cahaya Allah, adalah seperti sebuah lubang yang tak tembus, yang di dalamnya ada pelita besar. Pelita itu di dalam kaca (dan) kaca itu seakan-akan bintang (yang bercahaya) seperti mutiara, yang dinyalakan dengan minyak dari pohon yang berkahnya, (yaitu) pohon zaitun yang tumbuh tidak di sebelah timur (sesuatu) dan tidak pula di sebelah barat(nya), yang minyaknya (saja) hampir-hampir menerangi, walaupun tidak disentuh api. Cahaya di atas cahaya (berlapis-lapis), Allah membimbing kepada cahaya-Nya siapa yang dia kehendaki, dan Allah memperbuat perumpamaan-perumpamaan bagi manusia, dan Allah Maha Mengetahui segala sesuatu.

اللرُ آسمانوں اور زمین کا نور ہے .اس کے نور کی مثال اس طاق کی ہے جس میں چراغ ہو اور چراغ شیشہ کی قندیل میں ہو اور قندیل ایک جگمگاتے ستارے کے مانند ہو جو زیتون کے بابرکت درخت سے روشن کیا جائے جو نہ مشرق والا ہو نہ مغرب والا اور قریب ہے کہ اس کا روغن بھڑک اٹھے چاہے اسے آگ مس بھی نہ کرے یہ نور بالائے نور ہے اور اللہ اپنے نور کے لئے جسے چاہتا ہے ہدایت دے دیتا ہے اور اسی طرح مثالیں بیان کرتا ہے اور وہ ہر شے کا جاننے والا ہے

আল্লাহ নভোমন্ডল ও ভূমন্ডলের জ্যোতি, তাঁর জ্যোতির উদাহরণ যেন একটি কুলঙ্গি, যাতে আছে একটি প্রদীপ, প্রদীপটি একটি কাঁচপাত্রে স্থাপিত, কাঁচপাত্রটি উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র সদৃশ্য। তাতে পুতঃপবিত্র যয়তুন বৃক্ষের তৈল প্রজ্বলিত হয়, যা পূর্বমুখী নয় এবং পশ্চিমমুখীও নয়। অগ্নি স্পর্শ না করলেও তার তৈল যেন আলোকিত হওয়ার নিকটবর্তী। জ্যোতির উপর জ্যোতি। আল্লাহ যাকে ইচ্ছা পথ দেখান তাঁর জ্যোতির দিকে। আল্লাহ মানুষের জন্যে দৃষ্টান্তসমূহ বর্ণনা করেন এবং আল্লাহ সব বিষয়ে জ্ঞাত।
