Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds - darknesses, some of them upon others. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allah has not granted light - for him there is no light.

Or like the manifold darkness in a deep sea, covered by billow upon billow, overcast by clouds; manifold [layers of] darkness, one on top of another: when he brings out his hand, he can hardly see it. One whom Allah has not granted any light has no light.

Or as darkness on a vast, abysmal sea. There covereth him a wave, above which is a wave, above which is a cloud. Layer upon layer of darkness. When he holdeth out his hand he scarce can see it. And he for whom Allah hath not appointed light, for him there is no light.

Or (the Unbelievers' state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hands, he can hardly see it! for any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light!

or they are as shadows upon a sea obscure covered by a billow above which is a billow above which are clouds, shadows piled one upon another; when he puts forth his hand, wellnigh he cannot see it. And to whomsoever God assigns no light, no light has he.

یا [اعمالشان] مانند تاریکی هایی است در دریایی بسیار عمیق که همواره موجی آن را می پوشاند، و بالای آن موجی دیگر است، و بر فراز آن ابری است، تاریکی هایی است برخی بالای برخی دیگر؛ [مبتلای این امواج و تاریکی ها] هرگاه دستش را بیرون آورد، بعید است آن را ببیند. و کسی که خدا نوری برای او قرار نداده است، برای او هیچ نوری نیست.

یا [کارهایشان‌] مانند تاریکیهایی است که در دریایی ژرف است که موجی آن را می‌پوشاند [و] روی آن موجی [دیگر] است [و] بالای آن ابری است. تاریکیهایی است که بعضی بر روی بعضی قرار گرفته است. هر گاه [غرقه‌] دستش را بیرون آورد، به زحمت آن را می‌بیند، و خدا به هر کس نوری نداده باشد او را هیچ نوری نخواهد بود.

Veya derin denizin karanlıklarına benzer. Onu üstüste dalgalar ve dalgaların üstünde de bulutlar örter; karanlıklar üstünde karanlıklar; insan elini uzattığı zaman, nerdeyse onu bile göremez. Allah'ın nur vermediği kimsenin nuru olmaz.

Atau seperti gelap gulita di lautan yang dalam, yang diliputi oleh ombak, yang di atasnya ombak (pula), di atasnya (lagi) awan; gelap gulita yang tindih-bertindih, apabila dia mengeluarkan tangannya, tiadalah dia dapat melihatnya, (dan) barangsiapa yang tiada diberi cahaya (petunjuk) oleh Allah tiadalah dia mempunyai cahaya sedikitpun.

یا ان اعمال کی مثال اس گہرے دریا کی تاریکیوں کی ہے جسے ایک کے اوپر ایک لہر ڈھانک لے اور اس کے اوپر تہ بہ تہ بادل بھی ہوں کہ جب وہ اپنے ہاتھ کو نکالے تو تاریکی کی بنا پر کچھ نظر نہ آئے اور جس کے لئے خدا نور نہ قرار دے اس کے لئے کوئی نور نہیں ہے

অথবা (তাদের কর্ম) প্রমত্ত সমুদ্রের বুকে গভীর অন্ধকারের ন্যায়, যাকে উদ্বেলিত করে তরঙ্গের উপর তরঙ্গ, যার উপরে ঘন কালো মেঘ আছে। একের উপর এক অন্ধকার। যখন সে তার হাত বের করে, তখন তাকে একেবারেই দেখতে পায় না। আল্লাহ যাকে জ্যোতি দেন না, তার কোন জ্যোতিই নেই।
