ٱلَّذِينَ لَوْ مَا مِن مِن نَّحْنُ وَلَآ وَلَا مِن مِن كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن فَهَلْ عَلَى إِلَّا ﴿٣٥﴾

Translation

Saheeh International

And those who associate others with Allah say, "If Allah had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification?

شبهة بت‌پرستان در بارةٌ نبوت

این آیه, از زبان بت‌پرستان که منکر نوت بودندء شبهه‌ای را علیه نبوت نقل می‌کند. خلاصةٌ آن شبهه این است که بت‌پرستان زمان پیامبر(ص) گفتند: اگر رسالت حق بود و نمی پیامبران از بت‌پرستی و حرام کردن چیزهایی بدون اجازةٌ خدا درست بود و خدا با این مطالب مخالف بودء بی‌شک ما به این کارها دست نمی‌زدیم؛ زیرا اگر خدا چیزی را بخواهدء همان می‌شود و اگر خدا می‌خواست ما مشرک نباشیم» قطعا نبودیم. پس خدا چنین چیزی را نخواسته و اصلا شریعت و نبوتی وجود نداشته و ندارد. خداوند در مقابل این سخن» پاسخ مشرکان را با دو جملةٌ کوتاه می‌دهد: یکم آن‌که این سخن» حرف تازه‌ای نیست. پیشینیان مشرک آنها نیز بت می‌پرستیدند و بدون اجازةٌ خدا چیزهایی را حرام می‌کردند و در مقابل نمی پیامبران» همین بهانه را می‌آوردند و سرانجام مشمول عذاب الهی گشتند. دوم آن که پیامبران تنها وظیفة رساندن پیام‌های الهی و دعوت مردم و نشان دادن راه را دارند؛ نه این که آنها را به طور خارق‌العاده به یکتاپرستی و عمل به دستورهای الهی مجبور کنند.
