They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]." Thus Allah makes clear to you the verses [of revelation] that you might give thought.

Say, ‘There is a great sin in both of them, and some profits for the people, but their sinfulness outweighs their profit.’ And they ask you as to what they should spend. Say, ‘All that is surplus.’ Thus does Allah clarify His signs for you so that you may reflect

And they ask thee what they ought to spend. Say: that which is superfluous. Thus Allah maketh plain to you (His) revelations, that haply ye may reflect.

They will question thee concerning what they should expend. Say: 'The abundance.' So God makes clear His signs to you; haply you will reflect;

درباره شراب و قمار از تو می پرسند، بگو: در آن دو، گناهی بزرگ و سودهایی برای مردم است، و گناه هر دو از سودشان بیشتر است. و از تو می پرسند: چه چیز انفاق کنند؟ بگو: از آنچه افزون بر نیاز است. خدا این گونه آیاتش را برای شما بیان می کند تا بیندیشید.

در باره شراب و قمار، از تو می‌پرسند، بگو: «در آن دو، گناهی بزرک، و سودهایی برای مردم است، و[لی‌] گناهشان از سودشان بزرگتر است.» و از تو می‌پرسند: «چه چیزی انفاق کنند؟» بگو: «مازاد [بر نیازمندی خود] را.» این گونه، خداوند آیات [خود را] برای شما روشن می‌گرداند، باشد که در [کار] دنیا و آخرت بیندیشید.

Sana içki ve kumarı sorarlar, de ki: "İkisinde hem büyük günah ve hem insanlara bazı faydalar vardır. Günahları faydasından daha büyüktür". Ne sarfedeceklerini sana sorarlar, de ki: "Artanı". Böylece Allah, dünya ve ahiret hususunda düşünesiniz diye size ayetleri açıklar.

Mereka bertanya kepadamu tentang khamar dan judi. Katakanlah: "Pada keduanya terdapat dosa yang besar dan beberapa manfaat bagi manusia, tetapi dosa keduanya lebih besar dari manfaatnya". Dan mereka bertanya kepadamu apa yang mereka nafkahkan. Katakanlah: "Yang lebih dari keperluan". Demikianlah Allah menerangkan ayat-ayat-Nya kepadamu supaya kamu berfikir,

یہ آپ سے شراب اورجوئے کے بارے میں سوال کرتے ہیں تو کہہ دیجئے کہ ان دونوں میں بہت بڑا گناہ ہے اور بہت سے فائدے بھی ہیں لیکن ان کا گناہ فائدے سے کہیں زیادہ بڑا ہے اور یہ راسِ خدا میں خرچ کے بارے میں سوال کرتے ہیں کہ کیا خرچ کریں تو کہہ دیجئے کہ جو بھی ضرورت سے زیادہ ہو. خدا اسی طرح اپنی آیات کو واضح کرکے بیان کرتا ہے کہ شاید تم فکر کرسکو

তারা তোমাকে মদ ও জুয়া সম্পর্কে জিজ্ঞেস করে। বলে দাও, এতদুভয়ের মধ্যে রয়েছে মহাপাপ। আর মানুষের জন্যে উপকারিতাও রয়েছে, তবে এগুলোর পাপ উপকারিতা অপেক্ষা অনেক বড়। আর তোমার কাছে জিজ্ঞেস করে, কি তারা ব্যয় করবে? বলে দাও, নিজেদের প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যয়ের পর যা বাঁচে তাই খরচ করবে। এভাবেই আল্লাহ তোমাদের জন্যে নির্দেশ সুস্পষ্টরূপে বর্ণনা করেন, যাতে তোমরা চিন্তা করতে পার।
