And if not that a disaster should strike them for what their hands put forth [of sins] and they would say, "Our Lord, why did You not send us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses and been among the believers?"...

And lest—if an affliction were to befall them because of what their hands have sent ahead —they should say, ‘Our Lord! Why did You not send us an apostle so that we might have followed Your signs and been among the faithful?’

Otherwise, if disaster should afflict them because of that which their own hands have sent before (them), they might say: Our Lord! Why sentest Thou no messenger unto us, that we might have followed Thy revelations and been of the believers?

If (We had) not (sent thee to the Quraish),- in case a calamity should seize them for (the deeds) that their hands have sent forth, they might say: "Our Lord! why didst Thou not sent us a messenger? We should then have followed Thy Signs and been amongst those who believe!"

Else, did an affliction visit them for that their own hands have forwarded then they might say, 'Our Lord, why didst Thou not send a Messenger to us that we might follow Thy signs and so be among the believers?'

و اگر نه آن بود که به سبب گناهانی که مرتکب شدند عذابی به آنان برسد، پس بگویند: پروردگارا! چرا پیامبری به سوی ما نفرستادی تا از آیاتت پیروی کنیم و از مؤمنان باشیم [بی تردید در عذاب کردن و هلاکتشان شتاب می نمودیم.]

و اگر نبود که وقتی به [سزای‌] پیش‌فرست دستهایشان مصیبتی به ایشان برسد، بگویند: «پروردگارا، چرا فرستاده‌ای به سوی ما نفرستادی تا از احکام تو پیروی کنیم و از مؤمنان باشیم» [قطعاً در کیفر آنان شتاب می‌کردیم‌].

Yaptıklarından dolayı, başlarına bir musibet geldiğinde: "Rabbimiz! Bize bir peygamber gönderseydin de, ayetlerine uysak ve müminlerden olsaydık olmaz mıydı?" derler.

Dan agar mereka tidak mengatakan ketika azab menimpa mereka disebabkan apa yang mereka kerjakan: "Ya Tuhan kami, mengapa Engkau tidak mengutus seorang rasul kepada kami, lalu kami mengikuti ayat-ayat Engkau dan jadilah kami termasuk orang-orang mukmin".

اور اگر ایسا نہ ہوتا کہ جب ان پر گذشتہ اعمال کی بنا پر کوئی مصیبت نازل ہوتی تو یہی کہتے کہ پروردگار تو نے ہماری طرف کوئی رسول کیوں نہیں بھیجا ہے کہ ہم تیری نشانیوں کی پیروی کرتے اور صاحبان ایمان میں شامل ہوجاتے

আর এ জন্য যে, তাদের কৃতকর্মের জন্যে তাদের কোন বিপদ হলে তারা বলত, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, তুমি আমাদের কাছে কোন রসূল প্রেরণ করলে না কেন? করলে আমরা তোমার আয়াতসমূহের অনুসরণ করতাম এবং আমরা বিশ্বাস স্থাপনকারী হয়ে যেতাম।
