And they swore by Allah their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would be more guided than [any] one of the [previous] nations. But when a warner came to them, it did not increase them except in aversion.

They had sworn by Allah with solemn oaths that if a warner were to come to them, they would be better guided than any of the nations. But when a warner came to them, it only increased their distance [from the truth],

And they swore by Allah, their most binding oath, that if a warner came unto them they would be more tractable than any of the nations; yet, when a warner came unto them it aroused in them naught save repugnance,

They swore their strongest oaths by Allah that if a warner came to them, they would follow his guidance better than any (other) of the Peoples: But when a warner came to them, it has only increased their flight (from righteousness),-

They have sworn by God the most earnest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would be more rightly guided than any one of the nations; but when a warner came to them, it increased them only in aversion,

و [مشرکان] با سخت ترین سوگندهایشان به خدا سوگند خوردند که اگر بیم دهنده ای به سوی آنان آید هدایت یافته ترین ها خواهند بود، پس چون [پیامبری] بیم دهنده برای آنان آمد، آنان را [دعوت او] جز نفرت و دوری از هدایت نیفزود.

و با سوگندهای سخت خود به خدا سوگند یاد کردند که اگر هرآینه هشداردهنده‌ای برای آنان بیاید، قطعاً از هر یک از امتها[ی دیگر] راه‌یافته‌تر شوند، و[لی‌] چون هشداردهنده‌ای برای ایشان آمد، جز بر نفرتشان نیفزود.

Kendilerine bir uyarıcı gelince, ümmetler içinde en doğru yolda gidenlerden biri olacaklarına, and olsun ki, bütün güçleriyle Allah'a yemin etmişlerdi; fakat kendilerine uyarıcının gelmesi, yeryüzünde büyüklük taslamak ve kötü düzen kurmak ile uğraştıklarından sadece nefretlerini arttırdı. Oysa pis pis kurulan kötü tuzağa ancak sahibi düşer. Öncekilere uygulanagelen yasayı görmezler mi? Sen Allah'ın yasasında bir değişiklik bulamazsın. Sen Allah'ın yasasında bir başkalaşma da bulamazsın.

Dan mereka bersumpah dengan nama Allah dengan sekuat-kuat sumpah; sesungguhnya jika datang kepada mereka seorang pemberi peringatan, niscaya mereka akan lebih mendapat petunjuk dari salah satu umat-umat (yang lain). Tatkala datang kepada mereka pemberi peringatan, maka kedatangannya itu tidak menambah kepada mereka, kecuali jauhnya mereka dari (kebenaran),

اور ان لوگوں نے باقاعدہ قسمیں کھائیں کہ اگر ہمارے پاس کوئی ڈرانے والا آگیا تو ہم تمام اُمّتوں سے زیادہ ہدایت یافتہ ہوں گے لیکن جب وہ ڈرانے والا آگیا تو سوائے نفرت کے کسی شے میں اضافہ نہیں ہوا

তারা জোর শপথ করে বলত, তাদের কাছে কোন সতর্ককারী আগমন করলে তারা অন্য যে কোন সম্প্রদায় অপেক্ষা অধিকতর সৎপথে চলবে। অতঃপর যখন তাদের কাছে সতর্ককারী আগমন করল, তখন তাদের ঘৃণাই কেবল বেড়ে গেল।
