You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.

Surely You will find the most hostile of all people towards the faithful to be the Jews and the polytheists, and surely you will find the nearest of them in affection to the faithful to be those who say ‘We are Christians.’ That is because there are priests and monks among them, and because they are not arrogant.

Thou wilt find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who believe (to be) the Jews and the idolaters. And thou wilt find the nearest of them in affection to those who believe (to be) those who say: Lo! We are Christians. That is because there are among them priests and monks, and because they are not proud.

Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, "We are Christians": because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.

یقیناً سرسخت ترین مردم را در کینه و دشمنی نسبت به مؤمنان، یهودیان و مشرکان خواهی یافت. و البته نزدیک ترینشان را در دوستی با مؤمنان، کسانی می یابی که گفتند: ما نصرانی هستیم. این واقعیت برای آن است که گروهی از آنان کشیشان دانشمند و عابدان خدا ترس اند، و آنان [در پیروی از حق] تکبّر نمی کنند.

مسلماً یهودیان و کسانی را که شرک ورزیده‌اند، دشمن‌ترین مردم نسبت به مؤمنان خواهی یافت؛ و قطعاً کسانی را که گفتند: «ما نصرانی هستیم»، نزدیکترین مردم در دوستی با مؤمنان خواهی یافت، زیرا برخی از آنان دانشمندان و رهبانانی‌اند که تکبّر نمی‌ورزند.

İnananlara en şiddetli düşman olarak, insanlardan yahudileri ve Allah'a eş koşanları bulursun. Onlardan, inananlara sevgice en yakın "Biz hıristiyanız" diyenleri bulursun. Bu, onların içinde bilginler ve rahibler bulunmasından ve büyüklük taslamamalarındandır.

Sesungguhnya kamu dapati orang-orang yang paling keras permusuhannya terhadap orang-orang yang beriman ialah orang-orang Yahudi dan orang-orang musyrik. Dan sesungguhnya kamu dapati yang paling dekat persahabatannya dengan orang-orang yang beriman ialah orang-orang yang berkata: "Sesungguhnya kami ini orang Nasrani". Yang demikian itu disebabkan karena di antara mereka itu (orang-orang Nasrani) terdapat pendeta-pendeta dan rahib-rahib, (juga) karena sesungguhnya mereka tidak menymbongkan diri.

آپ دیکھیں گے کہ صاحبانِ ایمان سے سب سے زیادہ عداوت رکھنے والے یہودی اور مشرک ہیں اور ان کی محبت سے سب سے زیادہ قریب وہ لوگ ہیں جو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نصرانی ہیں ...._ یہ اس لئے ہے کہ ان میں بہت سے قسیس اور راہب پائے جاتے ہیں اور یہ متکبر اور برائی کرنے والے نہیں ہیں

আপনি সব মানুষের চাইতে মুসলমানদের অধিক শত্রু ইহুদী ও মুশরেকদেরকে পাবেন এবং আপনি সবার চাইতে মুসলমানদের সাথে বন্ধুত্বে অধিক নিকটবর্তী তাদেরকে পাবেন, যারা নিজেদেরকে খ্রীষ্টান বলে। এর কারণ এই যে, খ্রীষ্টানদের মধ্যে আলেম রয়েছে, দরবেশ রয়েছে এবং তারা অহঙ্কার করে না।
