Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.

Is he who supplicates in the watches of the night, prostrating and standing, apprehensive of the Hereafter and expecting the mercy of his Lord...? Say, ‘Are those who know equal to those who do not know?’ Only those who possess intellect take admonition.

Is he who payeth adoration in the watches of the night, prostrate and standing, bewaring of the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, (to be accounted equal with a disbeliever)? Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Are those who know equal with those who know not? But only men of understanding will pay heed.

Is one who worships devoutly during the hour of the night prostrating himself or standing (in adoration), who takes heed of the Hereafter, and who places his hope in the Mercy of his Lord - (like one who does not)? Say: "Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know? It is those who are endued with understanding that receive admonition.

Or is he who is obedient in the watches of the night, bowing himself and standing, he being afraid of the world to come and hoping for the mercy of his Lord..? Say: 'Are they equal -- those who know and those who know not?' Only men possessed of minds remember.

[آیا چنین انسان کفران کننده ای بهتر است] یا کسی که در ساعات شب به سجده و قیام و عبادتی خالصانه مشغول است، از آخرت می ترسد و به رحمت پروردگارش امید دارد؟ بگو: آیا کسانی که معرفت و دانش دارند و کسانی که بی بهره از معرفت و دانش اند، یکسانند؟ فقط خردمندان متذکّر می شوند.

[آیا چنین کسی بهتر است‌] یا آن کسی که او در طول شب در سجده و قیام اطاعت [خدا] می‌کند [و] از آخرت می‌ترسد و رحمت پروردگارش را امید دارد؟ بگو: «آیا کسانی که می‌دانند و کسانی که نمی‌دانند یکسانند؟» تنها خردمندانند که پندپذیرند.

Geceleyin secde ederek ve ayakta durarak boyun büken, ahiretten çekinen, Rabbinin rahmetini dileyen kimse inkar eden kimse gibi olur mu? De ki: "Bilenlerle bilmeyenler bir olur mu? Doğrusu ancak akıl sahipleri öğüt alırlar."

(Apakah kamu hai orang musyrik yang lebih beruntung) ataukah orang yang beribadat di waktu-waktu malam dengan sujud dan berdiri, sedang ia takut kepada (azab) akhirat dan mengharapkan rahmat Tuhannya? Katakanlah: "Adakah sama orang-orang yang mengetahui dengan orang-orang yang tidak mengetahui?" Sesungguhnya orang yang berakallah yang dapat menerima pelajaran.

کیا وہ شخص جو رات کی گھڑیوں میں سجدہ اور قیام کی حالت میں خدا کی عبادت کرتا ہے اور آخرت کا خوف رکھتا ہے اور اپنے پروردگار کی رحمت کا امیدوار ہے .... کہہ دیجئے کہ کیا وہ لوگ جو جانتے ہیں ان کے برابر ہوجائیں گے جو نہیں جانتے ہیں - اس بات سے نصیحت صرف صاحبانِ عقل حاصل کرتے ہیں

যে ব্যক্তি রাত্রিকালে সেজদার মাধ্যমে অথবা দাঁড়িয়ে এবাদত করে, পরকালের আশংকা রাখে এবং তার পালনকর্তার রহমত প্রত্যাশা করে, সে কি তার সমান, যে এরূপ করে না; বলুন, যারা জানে এবং যারা জানে না; তারা কি সমান হতে পারে? চিন্তা-ভাবনা কেবল তারাই করে, যারা বুদ্ধিমান।
