And [He also forgave] the three who were left behind [and regretted their error] to the point that the earth closed in on them in spite of its vastness and their souls confined them and they were certain that there is no refuge from Allah except in Him. Then He turned to them so they could repent. Indeed, Allah is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.

—and to the three who were left behind. When the earth became narrow for them with [all] its expanse, and their own souls weighed heavily on them, and they knew that there was no refuge from Allah except in Him, then He turned clemently toward them so that they might be penitent. Indeed Allah is the All-clement, the All-merciful.

And to the three also (did He turn in mercy) who were left behind, when the earth, vast as it is, was straitened for them, and their own souls were straitened for them till they bethought them that there is no refuge from Allah save toward Him. Then turned He unto them in mercy that they (too) might turn (repentant unto Him). Lo! Allah! He is the Relenting, the Merciful.

(He turned in mercy also) to the three who were left behind; (they felt guilty) to such a degree that the earth seemed constrained to them, for all its spaciousness, and their (very) souls seemed straitened to them,- and they perceived that there is no fleeing from Allah (and no refuge) but to Himself. Then He turned to them, that they might repent: for Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

And to the three who were left behind, until, when the earth became strait for them, for all its breadth, and their souls became strait for them, and they thought that there was no shelter from God except in Him, then He turned towards them, that they might also turn; surely God turns, and is All-compassionate.

و [نیز رحمتش] شامل حال آن سه نفری [بود] که [با بهانه تراشیِ واهی از شرکت در جنگ] بازمانده بودند [و همه مسلمانان به دستور پیامبر با آنان قطع رابطه کردند] تا جایی که زمین با همه وسعت و فراخی اش بر آنان تنگ شد و [از شدت غصه، اندوه و عذاب وجدان] دل هایشان هم در تنگی و مضیقه قرار گرفت، و دانستند که هیچ پناهگاهی از خدا جز به سوی او نیست؛ پس خدا به رحمتش بر آنان توجه کرد تا توبه کنند؛ زیرا خدا بسیار توبه پذیر و مهربان است.

و [نیز] بر آن سه تن که بر جای مانده بودند، [و قبول توبه آنان به تعویق افتاد] تا آنجا که زمین با همه فراخی‌اش بر آنان تنگ گردید، و از خود به تنگ آمدند و دانستند که پناهی از خدا جز به سوی او نیست. پس [خدا] به آنان [توفیق ]توبه داد، تا توبه کنند. بی تردید خدا همان توبه‌پذیر مهربان است.

Bütün genişliğine rağmen yer onlara dar gelerek nefisleri kendilerini sıkıştırıp, Allah'tan başka sığınacak kimse olmadığını anlayan, savaştan geri kalmış üç kişinin tevbesini de kabul etti. Allah, tevbe ettikleri için onların tevbesini kabul etmiştir. Çünkü O tevbeleri kabul eden, merhametli olandır.

dan terhadap tiga orang yang ditangguhkan (penerimaan taubat) mereka, hingga apabila bumi telah menjadi sempit bagi mereka, padahal bumi itu luas dan jiwa merekapun telah sempit (pula terasa) oleh mereka, serta mereka telah mengetahui bahwa tidak ada tempat lari dari (siksa) Allah, melainkan kepada-Nya saja. Kemudian Allah menerima taubat mereka agar mereka tetap dalam taubatnya. Sesungguhnya Allah-lah Yang maha Penerima taubat lagi Maha Penyayang.

اوراللہ نے ان تینوں پر بھی رحم کیا جو جہاد سے پیچھے رہ گئے یہاں تک کہ زمین جب اپنی وسعتوں سمیت ان پر تنگ ہوگئی اور ان کے دم پر بن گئی اور انہوں نے یہ سمجھ لیا کہ ا ب اللہ کے علاوہ کوئی پناہ گاہ نہیں ہے تواللہ نے ان کی طرف توجہ فرمائی کہ وہ توبہ کرلیں اس لئے کہ وہ بڑا توبہ قبول کرنے والا اور مہربان ہے

এবং অপর তিনজনকে যাদেরকে পেছনে রাখা হয়েছিল, যখন পৃথিবী বিস্তৃত হওয়া সত্বেও তাদের জন্য সঙ্কুচিত হয়ে গেল এবং তাদের জীবন দূর্বিসহ হয়ে উঠলো; আর তারা বুঝতে পারলো যে, আল্লাহ ব্যতীত আর কোন আশ্রয়স্থল নেই-অতঃপর তিনি সদয় হলেন তাদের প্রতি যাতে তারা ফিরে আসে। নিঃসন্দেহে আল্লাহ দয়াময় করুণাশীল।
