And if We had decreed upon them, "Kill yourselves" or "Leave your homes," they would not have done it, except for a few of them. But if they had done what they were instructed, it would have been better for them and a firmer position [for them in faith].

Had We prescribed for them, [commanding]: ‘Slay [the guilty among] your folks or leave your habitations,’ they would not have done it except a few of them. And if they had done as they were advised, it would have been better for them and stronger in confirming [their faith].

And if We had decreed for them: Lay down your lives or go forth from your dwellings, but few of them would have done it; though if they did what they are exhorted to do it would be better for them, and more strengthening;

If We had ordered them to sacrifice their lives or to leave their homes, very few of them would have done it: But if they had done what they were (actually) told, it would have been best for them, and would have gone farthest to strengthen their (faith);

But had We prescribed for them, saying, 'Slay yourselves' or 'Leave your habitations,' they would not have done it, save a few of them; yet if they had done as they were admonished it would have been better for them, and stronger confirming them,

و اگر بر آنان مقرّر می کردیم که خودکشی کنید، یا از دیار و کاشانه خود بیرون روید، جز اندکی از آنان انجام نمی دادند. و اگر آنچه را که به آن پند داده می شوند عمل می کردند، مسلماً برای آنان بهتر و در [جهت تثبیت ایمان و] استواری قدم، مؤثرتر و قوی تر بود.

و اگر بر آنان مقرر می‌کردیم که تن به کشتن دهید، یا از خانه‌های خود به در آیید، جز اندکی از ایشان آن را به کار نمی‌بستند؛ و اگر آنان آنچه را بدان پند داده می‌شوند به کار می‌بستند، قطعاً برایشان بهتر و در ثبات قدم ایشان مؤثرتر بود؛

Şayet onlara "Kendinizi öldürün" yahut "Memleketinizden çıkın" diye emretmiş olsaydık, pek azından başkaları bunu yapmazlardı. Kendilerine verilen öğüdü yerine getirmiş olsalardı onlar için daha iyi ve daha sağlam olurdu.

Dan sesungguhnya kalau Kami perintahkan kepada mereka: "Bunuhlah dirimu atau keluarlah kamu dari kampungmu", niscaya mereka tidak akan melakukannya kecuali sebagian kecil dari mereka. Dan sesungguhnya kalau mereka melaksanakan pelajaran yang diberikan kepada mereka, tentulah hal yang demikian itu lebih baik bagi mereka dan lebih menguatkan (iman mereka),

اور اگر ہم ان منافقین پر فرض کردیتے کہ اپنے کو قتل کر ڈالیں یا گھر چھوڑ کر نکل جائیں تو چند افراد کے علاوہ کوئی عمل نہ کرتا حالانکہ اگر یہ اس نصیحت پر عمل کرتے تو ان کے حق میں بہتر ہی ہوتا اور ان کو زیادہ ثبات حاصل ہوتا

আর যদি আমি তাদের নির্দেশ দিতাম যে, নিজেদের প্রাণ ধ্বংস করে দাও কিংবা নিজেদের নগরী ছেড়ে বেরিয়ে যাও, তবে তারা তা করত না; অবশ্য তাদের মধ্যে অল্প কয়েকজন। যদি তারা তাই করে যা তাদের উপদেশ দেয়া হয়, তবে তা অবশ্যই তাদের জন্য উত্তম এং তাদেরকে নিজের ধর্মের উপর সুদৃঢ় রাখার জন্য তা উত্তম হবে।
