Similar verses by meaning

[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They denied the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people…

And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!"

Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts became hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing.

So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people.

And We caused to overtake them in this world a curse, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be of the despised.

And there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers.
