Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts became hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing.

Why did they not entreat when Our punishment overtook them! But their hearts had hardened, and Satan had made what they had been doing seem decorous to them.

If only, when Our disaster came on them, they had been humble! But their hearts were hardened and the devil made all that they used to do seem fair unto them!

When the suffering reached them from us, why then did they not learn humility? On the contrary their hearts became hardened, and Satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them.

if only, when Our might came upon them, they had been humble! But their hearts were hard, and Satan decked out fair to them what they were doing.

پس چرا هنگامی که عذاب ما به آنان رسید، فروتنی و زاری نکردند؟ بلکه دل هایشان سخت شد و شیطان، اعمال ناپسندی که همواره مرتکب می شدند در نظرشان آراست.

پس چرا هنگامی که عذاب ما به آنان رسید تضرّع نکردند؟ ولی [حقیقت این است که‌] دلهایشان سخت شده، و شیطان آنچه را انجام می‌دادند برایشان آراسته است.

Hiç değilse, onlara şiddetimiz geldiği zaman yalvarıp yakarmalı değil miydiler? Lakin kalbleri katılaştı, şeytan da yaptıklarını onlara güzel gösterdi.

Maka mengapa mereka tidak memohon (kepada Allah) dengan tunduk merendahkan diri ketika datang siksaan Kami kepada mereka, bahkan hati mereka telah menjadi keras, dan syaitanpun menampakkan kepada mereka kebagusan apa yang selalu mereka kerjakan.

پھر ان سختیوں کے بعد انہوں نے کیوں فریاد نہیں کی بات یہ ہے کہ ان کے دل سخت ہوگئے ہیں اور شیطان نے ان کے اعمال کو ان کے لئے آراستہ کردیا ہے

অতঃপর তাদের কাছে যখন আমার আযাব আসল, তখন কেন কাকুতি-মিনতি করল না ? বস্তুতঃ তাদের অন্তর কঠোর হয়ে গেল এবং শয়তান তাদের কাছে সুশোভিত করে দেখাল, যে কাজ তারা করছিল।
