And mankind was not but one community [united in religion], but [then] they differed. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, it would have been judged between them [immediately] concerning that over which they differ.

Mankind were but a single [religious] community; then they differed. And were it not for a prior decree of your Lord, decision would have been made between them concerning that about which they differ.

Mankind were but one community; then they differed; and had it not been for a word that had already gone forth from thy Lord it had been judged between them in respect of that wherein they differ.

Mankind was but one nation, but differed (later). Had it not been for a word that went forth before from thy Lord, their differences would have been settled between them.

Mankind were only one nation, then they fell into variance. But for a word that preceded from thy Lord, it had been decided between them already touching their differences.

و مردم [بر محور یکتاپرستی] جز امت واحدی نبودند؛ پس [چیزی نگذشت که درباره دین] دچار اختلاف شدند؛ و اگر از سوی پروردگارت، فرمانی مقرّر نشده بود [که عذاب اختلاف کنندگان تا قیامت به تأخیر افتد] یقیناً میان آنان در آنچه اختلاف می کنند، داوری می شد [و نتیجه داوری نابودی آنان و انقراض نسلشان بود.]

و مردم جز یک امت نبودند. پس اختلاف پیدا کردند. و اگر وعده‌ای از جانب پروردگارت مقرر نگشته بود، قطعاً در آنچه بر سر آن با هم اختلاف می‌کنند، میانشان داوری می‌شد.

İnsanlar bir tek ümmettiler, sonra ayrılığa düştüler; şayet Rabbinden, daha önce bir takdir geçmemiş olsaydı, aralarında ihtilafa düştükleri şeyler hakkında hüküm çoktan verilmiş olurdu.

Manusia dahulunya hanyalah satu umat, kemudian mereka berselisih. Kalau tidaklah karena suatu ketetapan yang telah ada dari Tuhanmu dahulu, pastilah telah diberi keputusan di antara mereka, tentang apa yang mereka perselisihkan itu.

سارے انسان فطرتا ایک امت تھے پھر سب آپس میں الگ الگ ہوگئے اور اگر تمہارے رب کی بات پہلے سے طے نہ ہوچکی ہوتی تو یہ جس بات میں اختلاف کرتے ہیں اس کا فیصلہ ہوچکا ہوتا

আর সমস্ত মানুষ একই উম্মতভুক্ত ছিল, পরে পৃথক হয়ে গেছে। আর একটি কথা যদি তোমার পরওয়ারদেগারের পক্ষ থেকে পূর্ব নির্ধারিত না হয়ে যেত; তবে তারা যে বিষয়ে বিরোধ করছে তার মীমাংসা হয়ে যেত।
