لَوْلَا هَٰذَا عَلَىٰ مِّنَ ﴿٣١﴾

And they said, "Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"

چرا قرآن بر یکی از ثروتمندان نازل نشده؟

این آیه به یکی دیگر از بهانه‌های واهی و بی‌اساس مشرکان اشاره کرده که می‌گفتند چرا این قرآن بر مرد سرشناس و ثروتمندی از دو شهر مکه و طائف نازل نشده است. البته آنها از یک نظر حق داشتند سراغ چنین بهانه‌ای بروند؛ زیرا از دیدگاه آنهاء معیار ارزش انسان‌هاء مال و ثروت و مقام ظاهری و شهرت آنان بود و تصور می‌کردند ثروتمندان و شیوخ ظالم قبایل آنهاء مقرب‌ترین مردم در درگاه خدا هستند. از این رو تعجب می‌کردند که موهبت نبوت و رحمت بزرگ الهی بر یکی از این گونه افراد نازل نشده و به عکس, بر یتیم و فقیر و تهیدستی به نام محمد نازل شده است. آری» آن نظام ارزشی نادرست چنین استنباطی هم به دنبال داشت» و بلای بزرگ جوامع بشری و عامل اصلی انحراف فکری آنها نه تنها در آن زمان بلکه در همه دوران‌هاء همین نظام ارزشی غلط است که گاه حقایق را کاملا واژگون نشان می‌دهد. حامل دعوت الهی باید کسی باشد که روح تقوی سراسر وجودش را پرکرده است؛ انسانی آگاه» بااراده» مصمم» شجاع» عادل و آشنا به درد محرومان و مظلومان. این است ارزش‌هایی که برای حمل این رسالت آسمانی لازم است؛ نه لباس‌های زیبا و قصرهای گرانبها و مجلل و انواع زینت‌ها و تجملات. به ویژه هیچ‌یک از پیغمبران خدا دارای چنین شرایطی نبودند تا ارزش‌های اصیل با ارزش‌های دروغین اشتباه شود.
