O you who have believed, when you go forth [to fight] in the cause of Allah, investigate; and do not say to one who gives you [a greeting of] peace "You are not a believer," aspiring for the goods of worldly life; for with Allah are many acquisitions. You [yourselves] were like that before; then Allah conferred His favor upon you, so investigate. Indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.

O you who have faith! When you issue forth in the way of Allah, try to ascertain: do not say to someone who offers you peace, ‘You are not a believer,’ seeking the transitory wares of the life of this world. Yet with Allah are plenteous gains. You too were such earlier, but Allah did you a favour. Therefore, do ascertain. Allah is indeed well aware of what you do.

O ye who believe! When ye go forth (to fight) in the way of Allah, be careful to discriminate, and say not unto one who offereth you peace: "Thou art not a believer," seeking the chance profits of this life (so that ye may despoil him). With Allah are plenteous spoils. Even thus (as he now is) were ye before; but Allah hath since then been gracious unto you. Therefore take care to discriminate. Allah is ever Informed of what ye do.

O ye who believe! When ye go abroad in the cause of Allah, investigate carefully, and say not to any one who offers you a salutation: "Thou art none of a believer!" Coveting the perishable goods of this life: with Allah are profits and spoils abundant. Even thus were ye yourselves before, till Allah conferred on you His favours: Therefore carefully investigate. For Allah is well aware of all that ye do.

O believers, when you are journeying in the path of God, be discriminating, and do not say to him who offers you a greeting, 'Thou art not a believer,' seeking the chance goods of the present life. With God are spoils abundant. So you were aforetime; but God has been gracious to you. So be discriminating; surely God is aware of the things you do.

ای اهل ایمان! هنگامی که در راه خدا [برای نبرد با دشمن] سفر می کنید [در مسیر سفر نسبت به شناخت مؤمن از کافر] تحقیق و تفحّص کامل کنید. و به کسی که نزد شما اظهار اسلام می کند، نگویید: مؤمن نیستی. [تا] برای به دست آوردن کالای بی ارزش و ناپایدار زندگی دنیا [او را بکشید، اگر خواهان غنیمت هستید] پس [برای شما] نزد خدا غنایم فراوانی است. شما هم پیش از این ایمانتان ایمانی ظاهری بود؛ خدا بر شما منّت نهاد [تا به ایمان استوار و محکم رسیدید]. پس باید تحقیق و تفحّص کامل کنید [تا به دست شما کاری خلاف اوامر خدا انجام نگیرد] یقیناً خدا همواره به آنچه انجام می دهید، آگاه است.

ای کسانی که ایمان آورده‌اید، چون در راه خدا سفر می‌کنید [خوب‌] رسیدگی کنید و به کسی که نزد شما [اظهار] اسلام می‌کند؛ مگویید: «تو مؤمن نیستی» [تا بدین بهانه‌] متاع زندگی دنیا را بجویید، چرا که غنیمتهای فراوان نزد خداست. قبلا خودتان [نیز] همین گونه بودید، و خدا بر شما منت نهاد. پس خوب رسیدگی کنید، که خدا همواره به آنچه انجام می‌دهید آگاه است.

Ey İnananlar! Allah yolunda yürüdüğünüz vakit, her şeyi iyice anlayın. Size, müslüman olduğunu bildirene, dünya hayatının geçici menfaatine göz dikerek: "Sen mümin değilsin" demeyin. Allah katında birçok ganimetler vardır. Evvelce siz de öyleydiniz. Allah size iyilikte bulundu, iyice araştırıp anlayın, Allah işlediklerinizden şüphesiz haberdardır.

Hai orang-orang yang beriman, apabila kamu pergi (berperang) di jalan Allah, maka telitilah dan janganlah kamu mengatakan kepada orang yang mengucapkan "salam" kepadamu: "Kamu bukan seorang mukmin" (lalu kamu membunuhnya), dengan maksud mencari harta benda kehidupan di dunia, karena di sisi Allah ada harta yang banyak. Begitu jugalah keadaan kamu dahulu, lalu Allah menganugerahkan nikmat-Nya atas kamu, maka telitilah. Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Mengetahui apa yang kamu kerjakan.

ایمان والو جب تم راسِ خدا میں جہاد کے لئے سفر کرو تو پہلے تحقیق کرلو اور خبردار جو اسلام کی پیش کش کرے اس سے یہ نہ کہنا کہ تو مومن نہیں ہے کہ اس طرح تم زندگانی دنیا کا چند روزہ سرمایہ چاہتے ہو اور خدا کے پاس بکثرت فوائد پائے جاتے ہیں- آخر تم بھی تو پہلے ایسے ہی کافر تھے- خدا نے تم پر احسان کیا کہ تمہارے اسلام کو قبول کرلیا(اور دل چیرنے کی شرط نہیں لگائی) تو اب تم بھی اقدام سے پہلے تحقیق کرو کہ خدا تمہارے اعمال سے خوب باخبر ہے

হে ঈমানদারগণ! তোমরা যখন আল্লাহর পথে সফর কর, তখন যাচাই করে নিও এবং যে, তোমাদেরকে সালাম করে তাকে বলো না যে, তুমি মুসলমান নও। তোমরা পার্থিব জীবনের সম্পদ অন্বেষণ কর, বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহর কাছে অনেক সম্পদ রয়েছে। তোমরা ও তো এমনি ছিলে ইতিপূর্বে; অতঃপর আল্লাহ তোমাদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করেছেন। অতএব, এখন অনুসন্ধান করে নিও। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ তোমাদের কাজ কর্মের খবর রাখেন।
