18

وَهُمْ ذَاتَ وَذَاتَ لَوِ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْهُمْ مِنْهُمْ ﴿١٨﴾

Translation

Saheeh International

And you would think them awake, while they were asleep. And We turned them to the right and to the left, while their dog stretched his forelegs at the entrance. If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled by them with terror.

خوابی با چشم‌های باز

یه گویای این مطلب است که خواب اصحاب کهف یک خواب عادی و معمولی نبوده و چشمان آنها در طول مدت خوابشان در غار کاملاً باز بوده است؛ درست همانند یک انسان بیدار. شاید این حالت استثنایی برای آن بوده که حیوانات موذی به آنان نزدیک نشوند؛ چرا که آنها از انسان بیدار می‌ترسند؛ یا به خاطر این‌که منظرهٌ رعب‌انگیزی پیدا کنند تا هیچ انسانی جرأت نکند به آنها نزدیک شود و این خود یک سپر حفاظتی برای آنان بوده باشد.

  • وَمَا نُرِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ إِلَّا هِىَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أُخْتِهَا وَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

    And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].

  • وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ فَزِعُوا۟ فَلَا فَوْتَ وَأُخِذُوا۟ مِن مَّكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ

    And if you could see when they are terrified but there is no escape, and they will be seized from a place nearby.

  • وَلَوْلَآ أَن ثَبَّتْنَٰكَ لَقَدْ كِدتَّ تَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهِمْ شَيْـًٔا قَلِيلًا

    And if We had not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined to them a little.
