And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. Even when they come to you arguing with you, those who disbelieve say, "This is not but legends of the former peoples."

There are some of them who prick up their ears at you, but We have cast veils on their hearts lest they should understand it, and a deafness into their ears; and though they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. When they come to you, to dispute with you, the faithless say, ‘These are nothing but myths of the ancients.’

Of them are some who listen unto thee, but We have placed upon their hearts veils, lest they should understand, and in their ears a deafness. If they saw every token they would not believe therein; to the point that, when they come unto thee to argue with thee, the disbelievers say: This is naught else than fables of the men of old.

Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients."

And some of them there are that listen to thee, and We lay veils upon their hearts lest they understand it, and in their ears heaviness; and if they see any sign whatever, they do not believe in it, so that when they come to thee they dispute with thee, the unbelievers saying, 'This is naught but the fairy-tales of the ancient ones.'

گروهی از آنان به سخنانت گوش می دهند، و ما [به کیفر لجاجت وکفرشان] بر دل هایشان پوشش هایی قرار دادیم که آن را نفهمند، و در گوش هایشان سنگینی نهادیم [تا نشنوند]. و اگر همه نشانه های حق را ببینند باز هم به آن ایمان نمی آورند؛ تا آنجا که وقتی به محضرت می آیند با تو مجادله وستیزه می کنند، کافران [از روی لجاجت وعناد] می گویند: این [قرآن] جز افسانه های پیشینیان نیست.

و برخی از آنان به تو گوش فرا می‌دهند، و[لی‌] ما بر دلهایشان پرده‌ها افکنده‌ایم تا آن را نفهمند، و در گوشهایشان سنگینی [قرار داده‌ایم‌]. و اگر هر معجزه‌ای را ببینند به آن ایمان نمی‌آورند. تا آنجا که وقتی نزد تو می‌آیند و با تو جدال می‌کنند، کسانی که کفر ورزیدند، می‌گویند: «این [کتاب‌] چیزی جز افسانه‌های پیشینیان نیست.»

Onlardan seni dinleyenler vardır, Kuran'ı anlarlar diye kalblerine örtüler kulaklarına da ağırlık koyduk. Onlar her türlü mucizeyi görseler bile, yine de ona inanmazlar, nihayet sana geldiklerinde de seninle çekişirler. İnkar edenler, "Bu, öncekilerin masallarından başka bir şey değildir" derler.

Dan di antara mereka ada orang yang mendengarkani (bacaan)mu, padahal Kami telah meletakkan tutupan di atas hati mereka (sehingga mereka tidak) memahaminya dan (Kami letakkan) sumbatan di telinganya. Dan jikapun mereka melihat segala tanda (kebenaran), mereka tetap tidak mau beriman kepadanya. Sehingga apabila mereka datang kepadamu untuk membantahmu, orang-orang kafir itu berkata: "Al-Quran ini tidak lain hanyalah dongengan orang-orang dahulu".

اور ان میں سے بعض لوگ کان لگا کر آپ کی بات سنتے ہیں لیکن ہم نے ان کے دلوں پر پردے ڈال دئیے ہیں ... یہ سمجھ نہیں سکتے ہیں اور ان کے کانوں میں بھی بہراپن ہے -یہ اگر تمام نشانیوں کو دیکھ لیں تو بھی ایمان نہ لائیں گے یہاں تک کہ جب آپ کے پاس آئیں گے تو بھی بحث کریں گے اور کفار کہیں گے کہ یہ قرآن تو صرف اگلے لوگوں کی کہانی ہے

তাদের কেউ কেউ আপনার দিকে কান লাগিয়ে থাকে। আমি তাদের অন্তরের উপর আবরণ রেখে দিয়েছি যাতে একে না বুঝে এবং তাদের কানে বোঝা ভরে দিয়েছি। যদি তারা সব নিদর্শন অবলোকন করে তবুও সেগুলো বিশ্বাস করবে না। এমনকি, তারা যখন আপনার কাছে ঝগড়া করতে আসে, তখন কাফেররা বলেঃ এটি পুর্ববর্তীদের কিচ্ছাকাহিনী বৈ তো নয়।
