وَمَا وَلَٰكِن هُمُ ﴿٧٦﴾

Translation

Saheeh International

And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.

  • فَرَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ أَنتُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ

    So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers."

  • كَانُوا۟ لَا يَتَنَاهَوْنَ عَن مُّنكَرٍ فَعَلُوهُ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ

    They used not to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did. How wretched was that which they were doing.

  • ذَٰلِكَ جَزَيْنَٰهُم بِمَا كَفَرُوا۟ وَهَلْ نُجَٰزِىٓ إِلَّا ٱلْكَفُورَ

    [By] that We repaid them because they disbelieved. And do We [thus] repay except the ungrateful?

  • وَلَمَنِ ٱنتَصَرَ بَعْدَ ظُلْمِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَا عَلَيْهِم مِّن سَبِيلٍ

    And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame].
