We are most knowing of what they say when the best of them in manner will say, "You remained not but one day."

  • وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلْفَتْحُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

    And they say, "When will be this conquest, if you should be truthful?"

  • قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ

    They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.

  • وَقَالَتْ أُولَىٰهُمْ لِأُخْرَىٰهُمْ فَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِن فَضْلٍ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ

    And the first of them will say to the last of them, "Then you had not any favor over us, so taste the punishment for what you used to earn."

  • وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ

    And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say.
