آزمایش سخت سلیمان

مفسران و محدثان در ذیل این آیهء اخبار و تفسیرهایی نقل کرده‌اند. از همه موجه‌تر و روشن‌تر این است که سلیمان(ع) آرزو داشت فرزندان برومند شجاعی نصیبش شود که در ادارةٌ کشور و به ویژه در جهاد با دشمن به او کمک کنند. او دارای همسران متعدد بود و با خود گفت: من از آنها صاحب فرزندان متعددی می‌شوم تا به هدف‌های من کمک کنند؛ ولی چون در اینجا غفلت کرد و «ان‌شاءالّه» نگفت که بیانگر اتکای انسان به خدا در همه حال استء در آن زمان هیچ فرزندی از همسرانش تولد نیافت؛ جز فرزندی ناقص‌الخلقه همچون جسدی بی‌روح که آن را آوردند و بر تخت او افکندند. سلیمان سخت در فکر فرو رفت و ناراحت شد که چرا برای لحظه‌ای هم از خدا غافل شده و بر نیروی خود تکیه کرده است. پس توبه کرد و از خدا امرزش خواست. تفسیر دومی که پس از این تفسیر سزاوار توجه است، اینکه خداوند سلیمان را با بیماری شدیدی مورد آزمایش قرار داد؛ چنان که همچون جسدی بی‌روح بر تختش افتاد و چنین بود تا سرانجام توبه کرد و خداوند او را به حال نخستین باز گرداند.
